Russia-China Forum begins
The much-awaited two-day forum between the two superpowers China and Russia has begun in Russia. This special forum began on Monday in the eastern Russian city of Khabarovsk, where more than 3,000 entrepreneurs, government officials, industry experts and researchers from both countries are participating.
According to a report by the Chinese state news agency Xinhua, the main goal of the two-day event is to further accelerate economic, trade and technological cooperation between Russia and China. In his opening speech, Khabarovsk Region Governor Dmitry Demeshin said, “Economic relations between Khabarovsk and China are getting stronger every year. Many groundbreaking projects have been undertaken in the industry, energy and transport sectors and are progressing steadily. We are not only writing a new chapter of infrastructure development, but also of trust, mutual respect and prosperity.”
Chinese Consul in Khabarovsk Jiang Shaoyang said that Khabarovsk is growing in importance as one of the main industrial and technological centers in the Russian Far East. “The cooperation with China in the region is becoming an important pillar of the Russia-China strategic partnership,” he said.
Russia-China Forum begins
More than 30 discussions and plenary sessions are scheduled to be held at the forum sessions. The meetings will discuss the joint development of Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island, investment in regional industrial and infrastructure projects, technology transfer and cooperation in the energy and transport sectors, tourism and cultural exchanges, and creating opportunities for direct dialogue between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
Local media say that a number of investment promotion events, China-Russia joint business meetings and the signing of partnership agreements are being held as part of the forum, which is expected to further strengthen the economic trust between the two countries.
It is worth noting that the Khabarovsk region has already become an attractive destination for Chinese investors. Located in the Russian Far East, this region is also contributing to China’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ and Russia’s Eurasian Economic Union.
According to analysts, this forum is not only opening up new horizons for economic partnership between Russia and China, but will also have a long-term impact on the geographical and strategic structure of the Eurasian region. Especially when Russia is taking an Asia-oriented strategy in the face of Western sanctions, China is also seen as interested in creating alternative markets and connecting routes to Europe. Therefore, the Russia-China Forum is currently considered a reliable and fruitful platform for protecting the strategic and economic interests of the two countries.
